What to Expect
Group size - Your small-group journey will include just 15-28 people. Group size will vary by tour. As a small group we can maneuver easily from place to place discovering hidden gems along the way, without overwhelming the local character of a place.
High energy tours – Our tours are active and energetic and you need to be physically fit to fully enjoy them. We do lots of walking--often many miles per day on uneven cobblestones, dusty paths, city streets and up and down rocky trails. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs and steep slopes and carry your own luggage. The key below will identify the activity level of each of our tours. Each level could include some or all the of the following:
- Activity Level I – mostly level walking on city streets or paths, two to four miles per day
- Activity Level II – moderate walking, some climbing or hiking on paths, some hills and stairs, two to six miles per day
- Activity Level III – strenuous walking, hiking on rugged paths and uneven terrain, lots of stair climbing, two to ten miles per day
Attitude - You and your fellow travelers will get the most enjoyment from our tours if you come with a positive attitude, a flexible outlook and are respectful to others.
Transportation - We travel by comfortable, air-conditioned motor coach or mini-bus and occasionally on local airlines, boats or ferries (varies by tour).
Accommodations – we stay in a variety of accommodations from comfortable, family-owned inns to boutique hotels and eco-friendly lodges. You may even find yourself staying in a luxury tent camp.
Non-smoking tours - this means smokers may smoke only outdoors and downwind from the group. Smoking is prohibited on group transportation, in hotel rooms or during group meals.
Refer to specific tours for more details.
